Over the last fifty years, the technological revolution — also called the “digital revolution” —has been continuously reshaping our daily lives and bringing about new opportunities and challenges. This paper examines the practice of “teleneuropsychology” that has resulted from this technological revolution, raising three specific points: 1) the digitization of existing assessment tools enables neuropsychologists to more accurately record their patients’ behavior and simplifies data storage; 2) teleconsultations have seen increased take-up due to the current pandemic, enabling neuropsychologists to treat patients despite social distancing measures. However, technical issues and a lack of test standardization may limit their potential; and 3) large-scale self-assessment tools used by the general public can generate a considerable amount of data and offer valuable insights into cognitive diseases, although they also raise important privacy issues.
