In some situations, the ovarian puncture might be technically difficult, incomplete, and even impossible and/or it exposes to a greater infection risk. An ultrasound evaluation of ovarian accessibility is necessary before starting an IVF attempt, especially in case of overweight or history of abdominal and/or pelvic surgery, or endometriosis, or tubal abnormalities or myomas. Total failure of transfer is exceptional but more or less difficult transfers are not rare. A fake transfer should be performed during the cycle preceding the IVF attempt. This allows anticipating difficulties and proposing options that are more often efficient.
