Nefopam (Acupan®) is a centrally acting non-opioid analgesic used for the treatment of moderate to severe pain. Similar to a level 1 analgesic in view of the WHO pain classification, it is a 1st or 2nd line drug depending on the intensity of the pain, but due to a significant risk of drug dependence, it should not be used in the context of chronic pain. What can be its interest in general medicine, and under what conditions?
