The study of the French association « Mémoire Traumatique et Victimologie » (Traumatic Memories and victimology) is the first one in France to address victims of sexual abuse directly – whether the abuse is an incest or not. Victims were asked about their medical and judiciary history. Results show that children are the main victims of sexual abuse, and that the impact on the health and quality of life of the victim is important.

In our study the role of health professionals treating the victims of sexual abuse can be summarized in three points: emergency care, long term treatments, and the wishes and proposals expressed by the respondents.
