This news is based on the following article: Arbuthnott K, Hajat S, Heaviside C, Vardoulakis S. Changes in population susceptibility to heat and cold over time: assessing adaptation to climate change. Environmental Health 2016 ; 15(Suppl 1): 33.doi: 10.1186/s12940-016-0102-7
The literature on vulnerability to heat and cold is scarce and based on widely varying methodology. This first review indicates that population susceptibility to heat and heat waves has decreased. This has not been observed in relation to cold temperatures, but only five studies were available.
