Based on a sociocultural hypothesis that suggests the transcultural nature of exclusion and stigmatization in the lives of people suffering from severe and long-term mental illnesses, we discuss how we were able to build an intersectoral support tool oriented toward recovery in Réunion. This tool can be thought of as an experiment in applied medical anthropology and an innovation capable of bringing hope to people who are at major risk of social exclusion.
