In adults, many studies have established that temporal lobe epilepsy may affect memory abilities. Although the litterature on memory impairment during childhood is limited, memory disorders have been identified in epileptic children. In particular, partial epilepsies have been found to cause substantial memory impairment and this is particularly true for children with complex partial epilepsy emanating from the temporal lobe.
