Answers

(1) Positive BOLD responses are observed in bilateral thalamus and symmetrical cortical areas; negative BOLD responses are observed symmetrically in the default mode network.

(2) Posterior cingulate, precuneus, medial prefrontal cortex, and inferior parietal lobule.

(3) Absence seizures are characterized by an abrupt onset and termination of generalized 3-4 Hz spikes and slow-wave discharges, accompanied by unresponsiveness.
