The pelvic exam, performed as part of cervical cancer screening, can sometimes be a challenge for patients living with mental disabilities. If some say they are comfortable at the time of the examination, several describe a difficult moment, even intense blockages. It is often seen as unpleasant but necessary, often as an obligation. It is described as a dangerous time when you lose control, associated with the risk or memories of sexual violence.
