This study of people with blood cadmium levels typical of those observed in Europe and the USA confirms the evidence that exposure to the metal is harmful to cardiovascular health. Its findings underline the need for continued efforts against tobacco smoking and for measures to limit food contamination and industrial release of cadmium into the environment.
