Drug residues found in water may be associated with either human or veterinary drugs. These two sources can be distinguished by quantitatively and qualitatively. Risks of veterinary antiparasitic agents are comparable to those of pest control products in terms of residues in water. Finally, geographic sources and pathways of environmental contamination are different for human and veterinary drugs.
