This news is based on the following article: Cano Sancho G, Salmon AG, La Merrill MA. Association between exposure to p,p’-DDT and its metabolite p,p’-DDE with obesity: integrated systematic review and meta-analysis. Environ Health Perspect 2017 ; 125 : 096002. doi : 10.1289/EHP527

This report is the first rigorous evaluation of the effects of exposure to dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) on the risk of obesity according to the GRADE (Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Assessment) system. It integrates several levels of evidence and finally concludes by classifying DDT as a presumed obesogenic agent for humans.
