Exposition aux PM2,5 et affections cérébrales : revue de la littérature et méta-analyses Volume 18, issue 6, November-December 2019

This news is based on the following article: Fu P, Guo X, Cheung FMH, Yung KKL. The association between PM2.5 exposure and neurological disorders: a systematic review and meta-analysis. Sci Total Environ 2019 ; 655 : 1240-8. doi : 10.1016/j.scitotenv.2018.11.218

This systematic review of 80 studies from 26 countries supports the hypothesis that fine particulates are toxic to the central nervous system. It indicates that PM2.5 exposure increases the risk of stroke, but also of autism spectrum disorders, Parkinson disease, and dementia.
