Age, parity and prepregnancy body mass index are the main variables explaining plasma concentrations of persistent organic pollutants in this sample of pregnant women in Norway with contamination levels comparable to that of other European populations. In 3-year-old children, plasma concentrations depend mainly on how long they were breastfed.
