Following the example of physical activity recommendations, minimum and optimum doses of contact with nearby nature could be established to improve public health. This analysis in a small urban population in southern England of the relations between the dose – described as frequency, duration and intensity of exposure – and several physical and mental health indicators is a first step in this direction.
