Tracheobronchial aspiration is widely used in our children hospital. The costs generated by this activity and the requests of the CLIN justified the need for a clear description of this act. Based on survey about the current practice and pluridisciplinary meetings, we showed non conformity versus current hygiene recommendations, dealing with the frequencies of medical devices changes. Four types of medical devices assembly have been identified, with costs varying from 2.66 to 6.79 euros per day. Based on this state of current practices, a hygiene protocol was made by pharmaceutical department. Moreover, some criteria for the choice of the medical devices were selected in order to offer new devices, more adapted for paediatric use or enhance the existing assembly. This study has been led according to a global approach for rationalization of practices regarding costs as well as nosocomial infection eviction.
