Each time you handle cytotoxic products from reception to administration manipulations and by the way bringing together the product and the solvant, there are involved risks that may be the origin of a chemical contamination. The department of pharmacy of the Dunkerque’s hospital has decided to think up a plan for quality improvement so as to secure every step of the cytotoxic circuit. An assessment of what was done before has allowed to identify the risks that may arise at each stage of circuit on one hand, and on the other hand the concerned employees. Security actions have then been implemented: development of new medical devices and antidotes, providing care services with aid kits containing everything needed in case of extravasation, training and audits in care and pharmacy services helped to bring up solutions that ensure an optimal security circuit. However, certain already-planned actions still have to be implemented for constant improvement of practices.
