The author of this article updates Jean Bergeret's opposition theory between two types of borderline disorders. He classifies them into two categories of untriggered psychosis. The “limit states” (borderline disorders) could be assimilated to pre-humor disorders whereas borderline states could be classified as pre-schizophrenia. His hypothesis is based on two clinical cases in which transferential interactions and psychopathological issues are quite different.
