Haemovigilance is a supervision and assessment process regarding adverse transfusion events. It takes an active part in all the transfusion safety, notably for the transfused patients. Management of adverse transfusion reactions have been installed for many years. It has already enabled to progress on identification and prevention of some major events as hemolytic reactions, bacterial contamination of blood products or TRALI. Management of serious adverse transfusion incidents was installed more recently. Additional progress should be possible with identification of the mechanisms of some avoidable transfusion complications.
