Mesna (2-mercaptoethane sulfonate) is used to prevent cyclophosamide-associated urotoxicity. Drug eruptions from mesna have been reported only rarely, and were usually minor macular or urticarial rashes. A case of a severe, mesna-induced eruption with detachment of 20% of the skin is reported in a patient with polyarteritis nodosa. From the clinical course and a positive intradermal skin test with mesna (0.1%), mesna was thought to be the cause.
