Acral gangrene constitutes a complication of a number of diseases of various origin, occurring in both the dermatological and internist fields. The authors review the different aetiologies and pathogenetic and pathophysiological mechanisms involved, concentrating particularly on the clinical aspects. Some possible treatment strategies are mentioned.
