The DHC4 program was applied to series of daily rainfall data collected during rainy seasons from 1961 to 1990 at Bambey (Senegal) with the aim of simulating 90-day millet crop yields. Simulations were also performed by increasing each rainfall value by 5 mm (optimistic series), and by decreasing each value by 5 mm (pessimistic series). These two latter simulations were conducted to assess the effects of rainfall measurement discrepancies, as noted between different rain-gauges set up on the ISRA Bambey estate, on crop yields simulated by the DHC4 model. The results were not closer to the real situation than those of the initial simulation, which were not significantly correlated with actual crop yields.
