Based on the integration of geological, hydrological, and hydrogeological data relating to the Chaffar region, the main object of this study is to assess the contribution of a Geographical Information System (GIS) and to identify those zones that are permeable and can help to the infiltration and the artificial refill of overexploited superficial aquifers. The contribution of the GIS resides in its high capacities in terms of data storage, treatment, analysis, and visualization. The aim is to build a geographical database and to identify the zones that are most favourable to the refill. The synthetic map established will serve as a support to improve the artificial refill in the study zone where a great number of wells are in operation. The refill may be carried out by setting up hill lakes or dams in the zones thus identified.
