A 68-year-old Caucasian woman with no comorbidities presented with a three-year history of an asymptomatic nodule on the third toe of the left foot. The patient reported no additional symptoms. On examination, a soft, pink to yellow, waxy-appearing 1 x 1-cm nodule was observed to project from the plantar side of the toe (figure 1A).
