Introduction Tiagabine-HCl is a new antiepileptic drug (AED) with a unique mode of anticonvulsant action. It inhibits the presynaptic re-uptake of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) into neurons and glia [1]. Its anticonvulsant effect in the treatment of partial and secondarily generalised seizures has been demonstrated in several placebocontrolled studies [2].
