The EEG pattern of benign epilepsy with centro-temporal spikes (BECTS) is considered as a genetic trait in BECTS, which constitutes 25% of all epilepsies in northern Sweden. This idiopathic form of epilepsy is the most common form in children between 3 and 12 years of age. Blom and Heijbel [1] called this epilepsy "benign" because the prognosis in the long term is good.
