Psoriasis is one of the most common inflammatory skin diseases, however, there is uncertainty regarding true worldwide prevalence. Based on a large metanalysis by Parisi et al., 53 epidemiological studies were analysed showing broad variability of the data [1]. The prevalence in adults (aged >18 years) ranged between 0.91% (United States) and 8.5% (Norway), while in Africa and Asia the prevalence varied from no cases detected to estimates below 0.5% [1].
