Background: The HPV vaccination is still uncertain. We tried to understand the decision-making process and the GP's proposals in this regard. Method: Qualitative Survey with semi-structured interviews on 16 GPs in Pays de Loire. Results: The physicians we interviewed were vaccinating. Many intervening variables were involved in their decision. The privileged moments to talk about it were the checkups and consultations for contraception. The doctors insisted on the importance of subsequent smears. They thought that vaccination was legitimate or forensic, despite some uncertainties; and that improving the overall prevention of cancer of the cervix would come through better information, the promotion of smear and through sex education. Discussion: The public health message was sometimes criticized. GPs felt involved in the overall prevention of cervical cancer. They believed that vaccination was an opportunity to sexuality education. The price of the vaccine remained a critical point, as well as its long-term uncertainties and possible side effects. Fear of increased risk-taking in sexual element was marginal. Conclusion: interviewed GPs stressed the importance of monitoring and believed that vaccination is an opportunity for sex education for girls.
