Penile cancer occurs predominantly in elderly men and is associated with a high morbidity and mortality rate [1]. Invasive penile squamous cell cancer (pSCC) accounts for around 90% of all penile cancers [1]. pSCC is associated in about 40% of the cases with the presence of high-risk human papillomaviruses (HR-HPV), in particular, the oncogenic genotypes [2].
