How can the development of good practice recommendations sustaining the rationalization of clinical practices be connected with the temporality of their implementation? To address this issue, we adopt a multidimensional sequential approach that analyzes the modalities by which healthcare professionals transcribe this precautionary approach to cystic fibrosis and the possibilities of cross infection. We distinguish three sequences: a sequence marked by the socialization of patients and the lack of attention to cross-infection; a reassuring sequence with the institutionalization and dissemination of a body of hygiene recommendations; a current sequence characterized by a less strict hygiene regime oscillating between the observance of elementary rules of prevention and the pursuit of a quality life for patients. Each sequence is exemplified by the local declension of recommendations by reflexive and strategic professionals which have to deal with a plurality of actors.
