With the current enthusiasm of patients for alternative medicines, the therapeutic education (ET) team has chosen to focus on phytotherapy by setting up several actions: census of plants used during consultations, phytotherapy session for patients living with HIV and finally a collective workshop. A table of plants interacting with antiretrovirals is updated regularly based on patient practice. The ET team's interest in complementary medicines enables the connection with patients who are stopping and/or refusing treatment. Indeed, traditional and alternative medicines can be complementary provided that patients are aware and informed of the risks or effects of certain practices.
