Infection prevention has been and will always be necessary in the gastrointestinal endoscopy unit. They are more oftenly caused by insufficient decontamination because of human error during the reprocesing of simple endoscope as gastroscope or colonoscope. The mistakes during the reprocessing might be easier when the endoscope is complex as duonenoscopes or linear echoendoscopes. In order to avoid contamination the French ministry of health published a regulation and a text of law in 2016 and 2018. In the same time, the endoscope manufacturing companies tried to facilitate the reprocessing using new devices and changing the distal tips of the duodenoscope. We should keep in mind other issues: HPV in anal procedures as well as aerial contamination during respiratory virus epidemies.
