While the health consequences of the Chernobyl catastrophe in northern Europe are still subject to debate, this study identifies a slightly higher risk of cancer in the three counties on the east coast of Sweden where the population was exposed to the highest cesium-137 fallout. The authors remain cautious in the interpretation of their results.
