This news is based on the following article: Kubesch NJ, Therming Jørgensen J, Hoffmann B, et al. Effects of leisure-time and transport-related physical activities on the risk of incident and recurrent myocardial infarction and interaction with traffic-related air pollution: a cohort study. J Am Heart Assoc 2018 ; 7 : e009554. doi : 10.1161JAHA.118.009554
Using national registers to identify cases of myocardial infarction and a valid dispersion model to estimate residential exposure to nitrogen dioxide, this analysis of a large, well-defined Danish cohort suggests that physical activity protects against myocardial infarction, regardless all levels of pollution.
