During the last years of his short life, Vincent Van Gogh demonstrated a chaotic behaviour that gave rise to many diagnosis hypothesis. Several are not plausible, except for two of them : epilepsy or psychiatry illness, in particular a cycloid psychosis. The author analyses and criticizes the arguments in favour of these two possibilities and tries to demonstrate that the second is the most likely assumption.
