Intraoperative ElectroCorticoGraphy (ECog): indications, techniques, and utility in epilepsy surgery Volume 16, issue 3, September 2014

Figure 1

Acute ECoG monitoring of the hippocampus in a patient with medically intractable epilepsy.

Interictal spikes were detected in the electrodes covering the anterior portion of the mesial temporal area (MTS) (hippocampus (ST3 and 4) which was resected after the recording, and not in the electrodes covering the posterior portion (ST1 and 2), hence guiding the extent of hippocampal resection.

Figure 2

Acute ECoG monitoring of the lateral temporal cortex in a patient with medically intractable epilepsy.

Interictal spikes (broad band) with a high-frequency component was detected in a focal electrode (ST4).
