Actinic cheilitis (AC) is a common disorder of the lower lip caused by chronic ultraviolet radiation exposure and smoking. Numerous studies have reported good clinical and histologic response in patients with AC treated with photodynamic therapy (PDT) with 5-aminolevulinic acid and its methyl ester, methyl aminolevulinate (MAL) [1-4].
