Pemphigus vulgaris is an autoimmune disease, characterised by autoantibodies to desmosomal transmembrane glycoproteins such as desmogleins and desmocollins, which are involved in intercellular adhesion [1, 2]. Autoantibodies are deposited in the intercellular space and mediate acantholytic blisters in the lesions.
