Standard surgery for cutaneous melanoma (CM) consists of “en bloc” excision of the tumour with margins containing normal-appearing skin and underlying subcutaneous tissue. More than half of patients with scars, including non-cancer patients, suffer emotional distress (ED), whereas almost all of them experience impaired health-related quality of life (HRQOL) [1].
