Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is an inflammatory skin disease affecting primarily the axilla and groin. Inflammation is triggered in the hair follicles and manifests as painful nodules. Prevalence is estimated at 1-2% of the general population. Smoking, high body-mass-index (BMI), genetic susceptibility, and skin dysbiosis are all considered to be contributing factors [1, 2].
