Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is an autoimmune bullous disease characterised by immunoglobulin G (IgG) autoantibodies to BP180 and BP230 [1]. Autoantibodies against BP180 have proved to play a critical role in the pathogenesis of BP, whereas autoantibodies against BP230 are thought not to be involved [2, 3]. Pruritus represents an important symptom in BP.
