While several cutaneous adverse reactions due to acupuncture are reported, localized argyria has been reported exclusively in Japan with only few exceptions [1-3]. This is presumably because the technique of intentionally embedding acupuncture needles, which causes localized argyria as a cutaneous manifestation, is exclusive to Japan.
