In addition to CD95-ligand (CD95L) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha),
a new member of the apoptosis inducing ligands of the TNF family was discovered
recently and named TNF-related-apoptosis-inducing-ligand (TRAIL) /Apo-2
ligand (Apo2-L) /TL2. TRAIL is a ubiquitous membrane bound protein
which can be cleaved into a soluble form by yet unknown cysteine proteases.
