DEATH RECEPTOR/LIGAND SYSTEMS Members of the TNF receptor superfamily form a group of more than twenty proteins with a wide range of different functions. Their common feature are cysteine-rich domains which occur in two to six repeats in their extracellular region. Among these molecules, a novel subgroup has been defined, termed death receptors, as one of their most prominent functions is to induce apoptosis [1]. Death receptors [...]
