WEQAS is one of the largest and the most rapidly expanding national EQA Schemes in the UK. The Blood Gas Scheme was launched in 1994 [1] quickly followed by the Co-oximetry analytes in 1995 [2] and the metabolite and electrolyte analytes in 1996. There are currently over 800 analysers enrolled in the Scheme. The Scheme was accredited by CPA (EQA) in February 1997, the first Scheme to be accredited by CPA (EQA) in Chemical Pathology. [...]
