Lymphoedema is a chronic pathology that is difficult to take care of. Medical compression is the main therapeutic option with rehabilitation. It cannot be separated from a global management combining life style, dietetic rules and therapeutic education in order to improve the observance to compression and understand the different phases of treatment. There is a whole range of medical compression devices with the aim of reducing oedema. It will be appropriate to select them according to the topography of the lymphoedema, its clinical aspect (soft or hard) and especially the phase of the treatment chosen by the patient (maintenance or intensive). The various tools in medical compression are reviewed (tapes, stockings, sleeves, compression clothing, compression reinforcement devices...). The recommendations of the French Health Authority in the treatment of the lymphoedema of the upper and lower limb are summarized, as well as the different advice in the prescription of the compression for the daily life.
