West Africa is often affected by dramatic droughts that have very important consequences on the fragile vegetation of this region. This delicate situation requires a short-, medium-, and long-term observation in order to offer a better forecast and a better understanding of such events and to provide sensible solutions. This study shows how the treatment of a time series using NOAA remote sensing images, transformed into Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), has allowed a regular and fine observation of the vegetation dynamics in this fragile area.
