Launched within the framework of the national research Programme [PROTARS: Support Thematic Project for Scientific Research (P2T3\ 13)], this survey aims at gaining a better insight of the processes and mechanisms of sand accumulation in the Jorf area in South‐East Morocco and more precisely in the locality of El Kraïr. From November 13, 2000, we started collecting a set of observations and measurements during one year in a trial perimeter installed in the above mentioned area. They confirm the predominance of the active southern‐westerly winds, already announced in 1964. The sandy load is more important with forty centimetres from the top of the soil while a 15‐meter migration of the barkhanes towards the North‐East is recorded. Finally, it appears that the origin of sandy materials is diversified (local and remote).
