Scientific writing: the title

Cahiers d'études et de recherches francophones / Santé . Volume 1, Number 5, 397-9, Décembre 1991, Note méthodologique

Article gratuit

Author(s) : Hervé Maisonneuve

Summary : The title of a paper will be read by thousands of scientists. The title is a label, not a sentence. The order of the words is important. Main results should expressed in the title. The title should be adapted to the potential readers, and to the journal. Ten to fifteen words are sufficient, and the syntax should be carefully checked. A sub-title could focus on design. Except for some editorials, there is no question mark in the title.
