If cognitive neuroscience has known in recent years what should be called a “social turn”, it is clear that sociology remains largely absent from the issues. The author proposes to discuss, as a sociologist, the recent use of the concept of collective memory in neuroscience and suggests to privilege that of social memory to increase the opportunities of exchanges between social sciences and cognitive sciences in a meta-theory of complex systems.
